13 April 2023 - Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has established International Academic Centres at four universities in China as an effort to further strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and China.

UNITEN vice-chancellor Prof Ir Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman said the centres at Huanghe University, University Electronic Science and Technology China, Sichuan Jinjiang University, and Hubei University will adopt the university’s co-curicullum syllabus starting September, 2023.

“The international academic centres prove that China recognises UNITEN’s co-curriculum to meet industry requirements and international standards.

“The marketability of UNITEN graduates is 96.8 per cent, which gives confidence to Chinese educational institutions to have close cooperative ties,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sichuan Jinjiang University president, Prof Yan Shijing said China is committed to ensure academic ties between UNITEN and the Republic, continues.

“China will start sending its students to continue their undergraduate and post-graduate studies at UNITEN in the near future,” he added.

UNITEN is the first university in Malaysia to open an offshore office with the Chivast Education International CSCSE, an entity under China Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and six leading universities such as Harvard University, University of Barcelona and National University of Singapore.

Twenty memorandum of understandings (MoU) were successfully signed between UNITEN and 20 universities in China last Monday on higher education cooperation between the two countries.

The initiative is a result of Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing recently.
