English Short Course (ESC) is a language proficiency course designed for International
Foundation students who enrol without any language competency such as MUET, IELTS, or TOEFL. The candidates are required to sit for the Test of English Proficiency (TEP) to determine their exemption from ESC. ESC is offered twice a year, during the long semesters, in January and October.
In class, students are given the necessary language skills (reading, writing, vocabulary, and
grammar input) to enable them to reach the acceptable, functional level required for academic success at UNITEN. Speaking skills are incorporated into every component.
Classes are small, with a maximum capacity of 25 students per class. The language classes are
taught by experienced language lecturers.
