DIRECTOR MESSAGE
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and greetings,
Welcome to the official website of Yayasan Canselor Universiti Tenaga Nasional (YCU). We are honoured to share the role and initiatives undertaken by YCU in supporting academic development, student welfare, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that impact the community.
As an institution founded on the values of excellence and inclusivity, YCU is committed to providing financial assistance to students in need, driving research development, and strengthening collaborations with various parties to enhance higher education in Malaysia. We believe that education is the key to progress, and every individual deserves access to quality educational opportunities regardless of their background. Furthermore, YCU is actively involved in implementing various welfare and community development programs, including social programs, industrial training, and green initiatives to support sustainability efforts. We are confident that with the support and cooperation of various stakeholders, YCU can play a greater role in shaping a brighter future for the next generation.
We welcome contributions, support, and participation from all parties – alumni, corporations, organizations, and individuals who share the same vision in empowering education and building a more inclusive and progressive society. Let us work together to create meaningful change.
- Yayasan Canselor Universiti Tenaga Nasional (YCU) was established on 2 June 2009 by Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) to receive and administer funds to promote education or any charitable purposes. In fulfilling this main agenda, building an endowment fund through various short and long-term fund-raising initiatives will be part of YCU’s continuous effort.
- YCU takes pride in being named after UNITEN’s esteemed chancellors. YCU was officially launched in 2011 by the former UNITEN chancellor; Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Abbas. Continuing the legacy of excellence, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, Penang's eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri, has been appointed as UNITEN’s chancellor in 2022.
- YCU plays a major role in the UNITEN group financial ecosystem through its contributions to Dermasiswa, research & development, student activities, teaching and learning activities, and helping the communities. These roles align with YCU objectives as stipulated in the YCU Trust Deed.
- YCU has contributed to providing financial aid for education to deserving students from low to middle-income families to realize their dreams and their greatest goals. Over the years, YCU has raised awareness among philanthropists (corporations and individuals) and attracted them to participate in this noble cause as well as to promote a positive brand image of philanthropists.

To fulfill this ambition and mission at Yayasan Canselor UNITEN (YCU), we are fortunate to have a wonderful team dedicated to making a meaningful impact. Our team is driven by passion, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence, ensuring that every initiative we undertake aligns with our goals of fostering educational opportunities, empowering communities, and supporting the university's vision. With diverse expertise and a strong sense of purpose, we work together to create innovative programs, build strategic partnerships, and drive sustainable growth for the foundation.
